My First Post in Anger and Hate

Please be warned, this post will be profane.  If you do not enjoy that kind of language, do not keep reading.  Much of the profanity will be quotes.

Hey everyone,

I am posting this to educate some members of the Portland community to a situation that is arising that I have been angry about all day.  I don’t know what else I can do but try to help and get the word out.

So there is a man in this nation.  A man who makes me boil with hate with every fiber of my being.  A man named Fred Phelps.  He is a reverend who associates himself with the Westboro Baptist Church.  Now this particular Baptist church (which is not to say all of them) is home to a lot of hate, and has caused a lot of pain and anguish for various families and organizations.  They are the owners of the GodHatesFags.com, and as of February 20th, 2010 they have brought their fight into my life.

How is it that they have entered my life?  Well, on February 20th, 2010 they had a press release on said website, which shall no longer be stated by name or linked to in this post.

NETCS, A New Brain, and Announcements

Hey everyone,

It’s been a while since I last posted, sorry about that, I’ve had a lot to do.  The largest of which is that the show I am a part of, A New Brain, is opening at Ithaca College this week.  This thursday, March 26th is the opening performance, and let me tell you the show is amazing.  I’ve been watching it unfold since the beginning, and as an understudy, I am there to know the Minister’s part in the off-chance that Bruce Landry (the Minister) can’t perform that night.  Because of this, I’ve watched the set go up, the technical aspects join the show, I’ve watched the music grow, and the story become clear, and I have to say that this show is beautiful, and everyone should see it if you have a chance.  You can read my quick summary in an earlier post, or go here.  Please come see it, you won’t be disappointed.

On March 14th I auditioned for summer stock theaters at the New England Theater Conference.  There were 42 theaters there this year, and I received a good amount of response from the theaters there, so hopefully I can find a fun job for this summer.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Hello everyone!

It’s that fantastic time of the year where I eat entirely too much food, and then feel sick for about three days afterwards.  I’m so excited.  Today my grandmother and uncle are coming up and we’re going to go out to thanksgiving dinner.  I haven’t seen either of them in a while so this will be fun.  Did I mention I get to eat unbelievable amounts of food?  I thought I did.

I’ve been home for about five days now, and let me tell you, it’s kind of weird.  I’m used to life up at Ithaca, where I have my space, and a routine.  It’s actually more hectic when I’m at home supposedly relaxing because I have no routine and I have to plan things quickly.  Ah well.  I’ve seen so many people in the last few days, it’s been awesome.  Monday I went out to brunch with Addie and Anando after seeing some people at Waynflete.  We took a tour of the new arts building at Waynflete, and dear god.  I’m glad I’m at a theatre school so that our facilities are beautiful, because otherwise I would be more than jealous…I’d probably be homicidal.  Monday night I went bowling with Anando, Harper, David, and Lizzie.

Homeward Bound

Hey everyone,

Ali enjoys stomach rubs

Look how content she looks!

I made it home from Ithaca without a hitch. Two of my suitemates (Max Lorn-Krause and Jason Barrera), Alyssa Darsa, and I headed out around 6pm from Ithaca after I finished my Paint Crew assignment for the day. With the exception of a little bit of weather around Albany it was a relatively uneventful trip. I dropped Max and Alyssa off in Newton MA at 12:15 and headed onward to Boston. After dropping Jason at the Berklee College of Music, I headed north, finally arriving in Maine at 3am.

I have to say that it is strange being home. I’m used to flurries everyday and relatively cold weather, but here the ground is bare and it is significantly colder. Upon waking the next morning, I went to L.L. Bean with my mother and decked me out in garb to prepare me for the long winter in upstate New York. I feel so cool now in my new hat, gloves, and boots. Add my comfy new slippers to the equation and I’m positively stylish (–yeah–no).  Most exciting part of my day was playing with Ali though.  I miss having a dog at school.
