Ithaca College Sophomore Cabaret

Hey everyone,

So on May 2nd, some of the members of the class of 2012 here at Ithaca College Department of Theatre Arts put on a cabaret to raise money for The Dysautonomia Foundation. We filmed the cabaret and I have put up the videos that people involved wanted posted. So there are some gaps as some people preferred to keep themselves YouTube free, however you can see all the posted videos at Ned’s YouTube Page or in the player posted below!

Here is some information on the Dysautonomia Foundation: FamilialDysautonomia (FD) is a rare genetic neurological condition that affects the sensory and autonomic nervous systems, causing severe gastrointestinal, cardiac, pulmonary, orthopedic, renal and ophthalmologic problems. The Dysautonomia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity that supports medical treatment, research, public awareness and social services for the benefit of people afflicted with FD. The Foundation has established the world’s only two FD treatment centers and is the largest single source of funding for research and treatment specifically for the benefit of people with FD. Here We Go Ithaca

Hey everyone,

So it’s been a while since my last update, mostly because the last couple weeks have been extremely stressful.  But here we are, it’s September 7th, and I think I can finally start settling into a normal schedule.  Upon arriving here the theatre department was dealing with the Dillingham Renovations (which are awesome by the way), auditions for the fall mainstage season, and just the acclimation of the new freshman class, as well as the returning students back into the swing of things.  Auditions went very well, and I’m pleased to say I’ve been cast as Shem in Stephen Schwartz’s Children of Eden.  Last year around this time it was really hard to come in and become adjusted to the new atmosphere and classes, but with that year of familiarity having gone by, the year has just started without a hitch.  I’m really happy with all my teachers and classes, and I’m excited to get down to work.  Review is coming up in only about a month, or a month and a half…so it’s time to buckle down and get stuff done.

The Final Countdown

Well hey there everyone,

Long time no post on my end, and I’m sorry about that…it’s been a busy month.  I want to start this post off in a shameless plug for a show I am involved in.  Fenix Theatre Co. in Portland has been producing Shakespeare in the park this summer, and after a very successful run of Taming of the Shrew at the beginning of the summer, they are about to open A Midsummer Night’s Dream.  I am a co-fight director for the project alongside the absolutely amazing Sally Wood (this woman had a C-section about 2 weeks prior to the first rehearsal, and she’s out there teaching things and kicking ass and taking names).  It’s directed by Peter Brown who directed The History Boys for Madhorse Theatre Company, and having watched it, it’s gonna be awesome.  A couple shoutouts to the cast as well, Seth Rigoletti (my drama teacher at Waynflete) is playing Demetrius, and Vano Kimmel (graduated from Waynflete with me, is now an Acting major at Clairmont) is playing a fairy in the fairy ensemble.  I’ve loved working on the show, and I can’t wait to see it, and you all should too.  It opens wendesday, and runs wednesday through saturday starting at 6 o’clock and runs for two weeks.

And So It Goes

The school year is over.  It’s weird to look back and think that I have completed one quarter of my time in college.  Weirder still to think that I only have three more years of schooling to go (that is unless my life plan changes drastically and I head off to grad school).  It’s amazing to me that this year has actually happened, that my life has actually been altered in the way it has.  Over the next week or so I’ll be posting on my experiences in the last 3 weeks, from review to getting ready to leave.  I won’t do it in one long post, that just seems silly.  All I will say about review, however, is that I got what I expected, and I am continuing as a Musical Theatre major for now, as always I will have to work as hard as I possibly can in order to remain in the program, but that is true for everyone, not just me.  In this post I want to talk a bit about an experience I had right at the end of the year, on the last night that Dillingham was open to students.

Cabaret and Reviews

Hey everyone,

It’s been a busy few days and it’s about to get a whole lot worse, and I will absolutely not be posting for the next week, just not enough hours in the day.  So I thought I’d let you know what’s been going on in my life:

First off it’s review time.  This friday (the 17th) is my vocal review for the department of theatre arts.  Myself and the other Musical Theatre freshmen will be going in alphabetical order and perform two 90 second songs for the performance faculty, and any of the students who wish to watch.  We watched the sophomore last week and it was phenomenal, so hopefully we can match up to them.  I myself am performing “My Romance” from Jumbo (an early Rogers and Hart musical), and “Goodbye” from I Love You Because (a modern show loosely based off Pride and Prejudice).  I am third on friday, and hopefully everything goes well!
My next review is on monday the 20th, and I have my acting review.  I am performing a scene from Picnic with Amberlee Weber; I am playing Hal, and she is playing Madge.  We’ve had great success in our rehearsals so I’m kind of itching to get review past us.  Hopefully that goes well also.

Secondly we have Freshman Cabaret coming up.
